New Jersey Will Pay You $1000 To Destroy The 2nd Amendment

There is nothing more disgusting or detestable than a citizen informant.  Without citizen informants, tyrants could never retain the kind of power they wield.  In fact, without citizen informants, totalitarian movements would never gain traction.  This is why EVERY functional oligarchy throughout history has implemented programs designed to encourage the development of common spies, using the promise of monetary reward, or collective recognition.

Sadly, there are many in our society that would gladly sell out their closest friends and family to the tortures of authoritarian bureaucracy for nothing more than a firm pat on the head and a few fiat dollars.  If there was ever a more degraded lot of bottom feeding opportunist scum, the citizen informant is the very epitome.

With the implementation of the “See Something, Say Something” program, and the increasing drive by the White House to institute community watch efforts to route out “extremists”, showcased quite clearly in strategic outlines like the  ‘Empowering Local Partners To Prevent Violent Extremism In The United States’:

http://www.whitehouse.gov/sites/default/files/empowering_local_partners.pdf

The issue of informant networking has come to the forefront in America.  My personal view is that these nauseating and diseased people should be treated as treasonous as any globalist, regardless of stated intention.  That said, in an environment rife with extraneous poverty, informancy cannot be avoided.  Plenty of men and women, stricken with empty wallets and bellies, are extraordinarily prone to betrayal, regardless of their inherent morality.  This is the kind of world we will soon be living in, and this is the kind of environment that corrupt officials like those in New Jersey are prone to exploit.  Pathetic, weak, cowardly, but ultimately dangerous sheep unknowingly serving the very men who would seek to enslave them.

In terms of 2nd Amendment rights, I find the very idea of debate rather pointless.  The logic is undeniable.  If you cannot defend yourself, you are a victim.  Period.  You become food for predators and parasites.  Any state government or national government which actively seeks to disarm its citizens is suspect.  I couldn’t care less about their stated rationalizations or rhetoric.  In New Jersey, in Chicago, in Washington D.C., or anywhere else for that matter, an innocent man who is disarmed by law will always be victimized by an outlaw who armed through criminality.  The concept of reduced crime through gun confiscation is so naïve it warrants considerable analysis.  Through such efforts, good men are left defenseless, while evil men are free to wreak havoc.

The 2nd Amendment is not a negotiable or debatable pillar of the Constitution.  It is absolute in its protection.  Every American, regardless of the temporary circumstances of the times, is free to arm and defend himself from ANY enemy, from average criminals, to government thugs.  The gun confiscation program featured in the video below, and instituted by officials in New Jersey, should not be taken lightly.  The pure idiocy inherent in its premise cannot be ignored.  New Jersey’s willingness to pay off potential informants could very well be a petri dish test for much more expansive programs across the country in the future.  If we cannot stop the corruption and anti-constitutionalism of a pathetic state like New Jersey, then how can we expect to disrupt the same brand of corruption throughout the U.S.?

Guns are simply not the issue.  An armed and educated populace is a populace safe from crime.  This is a fact.  New Jersey’s informant program is a travesty of justice, not only because it encourages American on American treason, but also because it ignores the very purpose behind the Second Amendment; to create a populace free from the fear of tyranny.  If we do not put an end to the anti-gun tides in New Jersey, we should fully expect to see such atrocities against freedom planted at our own front doors in the near future.  There are no exceptions to the Constitution.  New Jersey is not outside of its jurisdiction.  Every person in that state deserves the same protections as anyone else.  We must disrupt the sick and perverted no questions asked buy-off policies now prominent in that region, or be subject to the same in the near future…

Great (disturbing) article, Brandon. Haven't seen this anywhere else. The internet truly is to us what the printing press was to the Founding Fathers.

This brings to mind a Ben Franklin quote: "Those who desire to give up freedom in order to gain security will not have, nor do they deserve, either one.”

More thought needed
written by Oathkeeper thc0655 , January 08, 2012

I am a strong proponent of the 2nd Amendment and disgusted by the laws in the People's Republic of New Jersey. I'm also a police officer in an eastern city and respond to shootings all the time where no one saw anything. Some are scared to death but many others live by the ghetto motto "Stop Snitchin'". The thugs and those who inhabit the criminal class with them would agree wholeheartedly with Brandon Smith that ANYBODY who calls the police about the criminal activities of ANY of their neighbors is the scum of the earth. Smith has to think a little more and distinguish between Nazi collaborators and good citizens doing their civic duty. If I saw my neighbor having sex with a 12 year old in the shower after football practice, would Smith condemn me for calling the police? If I saw my neighbor pulling on a ski mask, shotgun in hand, walking into my bank would I be the same as a Nazi collaborator to call the police.

Besides, in most of America (I know NJ is moving away from us) an anonymous tip to the police stating that the man at 123 Main St. has a handgun or a full auto rifle in his house is not sufficient grounds to get a search warrant. Besides, keeping in mind that this man may be armed if I ever encounter him on the street or in his house, there's nothing the police can do except maybe knocking on his door and tricking him into incriminating himself. Police have much better things to do.

The NJ initiative is another "feel good" law/program generated by politicians to make it LOOK LIKE they are doing something about crime. Believe me: 99% of the police are rolling their eyes and walking away shaking their heads at this. Nothing can come of it, so nothing will. However, you'll know there's blood in the water when the authorities start asking us to report to them any of our neighbors who participate in the local Occupy protest, or display a campaign sign in favor of forbidden candidates like Ron Paul. Then you can get upset.

The main point is that a culture of 'snitches' is being created and nurtured to serve TPTB and their control state... which will most likely be leveraged as example in other states. This is but another example of attacking the right to bear arms.

Not sure what underage sex has to do with the 2nd amendment... But your example of an obvious robbery attempt (common sense?) is outside the targeted propaganda by the state of NJ. Part of the goal of this program is to plant the seeds of paranoia in an already dumbed-down populace and play on their emotions of reward and recognition.

Over the last 1 1 1/2 years, when has lack of a search warrant precluded SWAT raids?

@Oathkeeperthc

Sadly, you seem to have missed the entire point.

First, the program talks of "illegal firearms", but does not specify how a New Jersey resident is supposed to distinguish between a "legal" and "illegal" firearm. Obviously, the end result will be that NJ citizens will begin ratting out anyone that has a gun, period. This is not an environment that is conducive to liberty and freedom, and as an Oath Keeper, you should know better.

Second, you are playing a straw man game with your argument. At no point did I say that someone who points out ANY CRIME is the "scum of the earth". I am obviously referring to unconstitutional and unjust laws which turn good people into criminals through attrition. Please grow up a little, and think clearly before using straw man tactics to assert an invalid point.

Third, frankly you have NO IDEA what the New Jersey authorities will use these anonymous tips for. As a police officer, and an Oath Keeper, you should know that the state is not necessarily bound by Constitutional law anymore. Just look at the NDAA. The government is trying to assert that even the mere SUSPICION of guilt is enough to wave your individual rights. Lets not be naive...

Finally, governments have no business offering free and clear monetary rewards to accusers who are never required to identify themselves. Only a complete idiot would suggest that a surveillance society is necessary or excusable in a Constitutional Republic. The New Jersey gun program is a first step towards that exact paradigm. Please, Oathkeeperthc, consider the bigger picture before responding haphazardly. It will save us both a lot of time and energy.

The Constitution does not directly use the words "self defense", but that was the exact intent of the 2nd Amendment as is outlined in the Federalist Papers and the writings of the founding fathers. Not only was it designed to protect the right of citizen self defense, but more clearly, defense against corrupt government. Please come back when you have done more research.

Bad things happen fast
written by Steve Barnett , January 09, 2012

Some people live in safe neighborhoods and they never get in a situation where they are vulnerable. Let's say you are a woman and you are traveling down a country road and your car breaks down. You have no weapon and this means you can be in trouble if the wrong people come by. Let's say you jog and you jog the same path everyday. Someone see you jogging and decides to lay and wait for you the next day. If you don't have a gun you end up like that girl in Central Park. Let's say you area girl and you live alone in the country and someone tries to break into your home? If you don't have a gun they can do what they want. You city people live in your apartments and are never alone. You probably will never need a gun, but people who live in sparsely populated areas need them if nothing else, but peace of mind.

Some people are careless
written by Joe Bassett , January 09, 2012

Many people get themselves in a dangerous situation. They will park their car in a dark area down a side street and between them and the car are bad elements, but they just walk towards them thinking nothing can happen. Sometimes a young woman might stop in a bad area to get a soda and by the soda machine are four bad looking dudes. My brother and I were riding our bikes one day and he wanted to ride up to this soda machine to get a soda. There was four black dudes by the machine. I told him don't go up there, but he just had to do it. They took his bike and were pushing him around. I stayed on the road and told people in cars to call the police. We left and the next day my father who was K-9 patrol went into the black neighborhood looking for the ones who had done it.

Where there are bodies dropping in the street continuously (most under the age of majority)! Then tell me what your solution is to violence in the streets! The criminals are shooting each other and every innocent citizen (regardless of their age) who gets in their way are the TRUE SCUMBAGS TO ME! In my opinion only, apparently! No gun owner here lives in "fear and paranoia". We don't have to, because we are already prepared for the worst case scenario. I am at my leisure when it comes to the possibility of crime. You might say the same, but the difference between us is that your leisure is based in ignorance. Mine is based in experience, and readiness.

How many criminals have been through the NJ revolving doors?
written by Speedypete , January 09, 2012

I dare any Governor, State Legislator Congressman, Senator or president to sit through circuit court for a few days. Oh, but they have because they are mostly--lawyers. The sentences handed out for gun possession or intentional use would amaze most of you. As long as no one was injured or murdered the sentence is a slap on the wrist. Yet, they want you to turn in your neighbors? And if you have a clean record and an honest taxpayer, especially from out of state, they will clean you out of money and take away your freedom. Don't trust the mantra. They are all liars including Chris.

A crime must be committed before one can be punished. The Bill of Attainder clause of the

@Frank

There are two problems with the use of the word illegal in this program. First, how is anyone supposed to know when a person is carrying an "illegal" gun, versus a legal gun in NJ? They all look the same to me. The only possible result of this program will be that people begin turning in ANYONE who has a gun, period! This will breed paranoia amongst gun owners and snitches. Its a recipe for disaster.

Second, the very idea that you have to have a permit in NJ to own a gun is unconstitutional. I don't care what the Supreme Court says. A permit turns a right into a privilege. That is certainly not what the founders intended when they drafted the 2nd Amendment. Not only should this snitch program be shot down, but the permit legislation in NJ should be scrapped.

How to tell if a gun is illegal
written by Cynical but not crazy , January 12, 2012

A gun is illegal if it's owned by the guy down the street, who is a felon and scares the life out of everyone on the block. People in the neighborhood know who's who, and there's a reason this program takes anonymity so seriously.

How police can use the information:
Check if the guy being ratted on is a felon. Then get him off the street.

I'm not saying this mayor is right but I've lived in neighborhoods where a tip line would have been handy, and the least scary thing about the police. Put down Ayn Rand just long enough to get a little perspective, guys.

4th Amendment Supporter Applauds Protections of Bill of Rights
written by JeffNJ , January 12, 2012

Brandon, very interesting take on "See Something, Say Something." My pet peeve is the 4th Amendment and the illlegal and abusive actions of the TSA, the 50,000 person strong civilian agency that bypasses the Constitution. They use strip search scanners that either show your nude image or are the 50% of scanners with ATR software which hides the nude image but STILL performs an inch-by-inch search of your body (even if convenient through technology). They touch people's crotches, buttocks, and female breasts quite often - all of us would be arrested if we did this to our neighbors and the police CANNOT DO that without reasonable suspicion.

My point: I still struggle with limitations on the exercise of rights... the classic of shouting FIRE in a crowded movie theatre comes to mind.

At any rate, the See Something, Say Something program is now broadcast at hotels (example, the Hilton channel in their properties) where DHS expects us to spy on our neighbors. The concept is dangerous and what defines police states, even if the motives are different from traditional police states.

The $1000 reward does have the flaw you point out - although I could make a great argument that many people know their local drug dealer or gang banger doesn't have an illegal gun, you can still have mistakes.

Based on my observations how people accept the unconstituional searches at airports (not talking legal metal detectors which courts have allowed for a long time...), it is probably better to err on the side of caution. The 2nd Amendment gets tremendous support, and I used to think it was a little bit overboard (and I grew up with Hunter Safety courses, and hunting) sometimes.....but now, I see you need to stand up even if many people might see nothing wrong with some of these programs.

The Courts are taking the Bill of Rights away....so thanks for your purity.

Cheers,
Jeff

So its that easy to tell if a gun is "illegal"? Gee, I guess all we have to do is go through each person in NJ one by one, pick out the obvious "felons" (oh boy...), and then disarm and jail them. No sweat. And I thought in America we were all innocent until proven guilty, and that you need probable cause to search, detain, and arrest a person. Silly me.

Btw, looking "like a felon" is not probable cause. You're not cynical, Cynical, simply ignorant of how the Constitution and the Bill Of Rights works...

No one expects the Spanish Inquisition!

Am I the only person who is reminded of the Spanish Inquisition when I read this? Back then people were also encouraged to rat out suspicious neighbors, all for a "good cause". The result was millions of innocent deaths and also one of the largest transfers of wealth in history, since, you guessed it, the Church got to keep any land and goods the guilty had accumulated.
Likewise, once accused, it was almost impossible to prove one's innocence.
Is this what we really want to get back to? Let's grow up. We're better than this...
