Crime and terrorism prevention has always been the go-to rationalization for Orwellian surveillance. With our society so overrun by frightened little people with absolutely no concept of self defense or self reliance, its difficult to break through and make them understand why this is a terrible thing. Ultimately, the surveillance society is designed to treat all citizens as guilty until proven innocent, and to make the government the sole watchman of our communities. Frankly, no government is worthy, honorable, or principled enough to fulfill such an auspicious role. Criminality is NOT restricted to the dark corners of city streets. In fact, you will find far more criminal activity within the halls of power than any terrified metropolitan or suburban yuppie could possibly imagine. If we actually want these cameras to do any real good, perhaps we should begin pointing them at the offices of Congress and the White House, and find true solace and safety at last...

Anybody ever notice how they can give you a ticket without having an officer write you one? They install cameras in the lights and take a picture every time sombody runs the light. They refer to a data base of license plates track down an address and then fine you.
There are so many cameras around you. It is natural to observe that which you believe belongs to you, and what you are invested in. So why is the government watching our every move like a hawk?
Something to think about.

You know that a 1/2 to one watt laser pointer will take out a camera without any visible damage?

Unless you're the William Tell of Lasers, that would only put you in jail and on the hook for a camera. CCTV's are almost always manned, and even the traffic cameras will probably catch you in the act before you succeed!

Where was Guy Fawkes when we needed him for the SOTU address. Problem solved.

Strikes me as a great idea to use on the banks/wall street, lobbyist interacting with congress, supreme justices on paid for vacation/seminars, etc... Let's also use it on the biggest criminals. Let's use it on the corrupt and greedy plutocrats that are ruining (ruined) our nation. The record function should come in quite handy! Why aren't the law enforcement agencies performing their duty and going after those crooks? George Carlin said it best, "it's all one big effin club and you ain't in it"!
