Practice with the knife you choose in the manner in your mind's eye you see yourself using it. Make sure for you it does what you expect it to.

A commando saw and a Mora knife, 20 dollars total will help you survive and make it back to where you need to be. If your planning on living in the bush without an axe etc. go for a ESEE 5. Remember you're trying to survive which means your on the move towards civilization.
