
There are all kinds of knives out there, some far more expensive than others, but are these high priced knives really any "better" than the others? It depends on the maker, and the intended use, but for the most part, there is very little extra capability in knives boasting $200-plus price tags. For firearms, the mantra "you get what you pay for" often applies. For knives, not as much. The point is to find the best quality tool within your price range and use your knowledge and expertise to make it work for you. Practice with the knife you choose in the manner in your mind's eye you see yourself using it. Make sure for you it does what you expect it to.

A commando saw and a Mora knife, 20 dollars total will help you survive and make it back to where you need to be. If your planning on living in the bush without an axe etc. go for a ESEE 5. Remember you're trying to survive which means your on the move towards civilization.
