Times are tight for everyone. The economy is obviously a wreck, and things are only getting worse. Every penny counts, and we all have certainly felt compelled to keep a master level Kung Fu grip on our wallets. That said, today we are here to ask you to loosen that grip just a little, and help us build a better economy with you. That’s right, we need money to make the Alternative Market Project go viral…
Alt-Market is now moving into the advertising phase, in which we will be launching various ad campaigns on major websites. I will also be traveling as often as possible to liberty based conventions across the country to spread the word on barter networking, private trade, and sound money initiatives. We will soon be working with John Chamber’s of the Save America Foundation and Dr. Kirk Elliott of the Mcalvany Financial Company to provide valuable investment information to those who frequent our websites, as well as an excellent source for precious metals. This will bring in some revenues to help support Alt-Market, but the majority of funding will come from readers like you.
Our current goal is $5000 to begin advertising and to cover convention costs. If only half of the readers who frequent this site daily donated a mere $10 each, we could surpass this goal easily. We are also announcing our goal of 50,000 participants for the Alternative Market Project, or 1000 members per state. This may seem like a lofty aspiration, but I believe it could be met and then some with the right amount of advertising and word of mouth.
I don’t have to tell you, barter networking and localized commerce is of the utmost importance RIGHT NOW. Time appears to be running out, and we must work fast to make the Alternative Market Project a success before the year is over.
We will be making regular posts at Neithercorp.us and Alt-Market.com as to the progress of this Fundraising Drive, and we will also be giving you regular updates as to the progress of Alt-Market traffic and membership numbers.

There appears to be a wee bit of a problem with the donate button. When I click on it, it takes me back to the alt-market.com/donate page.
I tried it in IceWeasel ( Firefox rebranded for Debian ), Epiphany, and Chromium.
It might work differently in Internet Exploder, but I'd have to go to a computer running Windows to find out.

I've made my first monetary contribution.
I have an idea for fundraising. I think this mostly comes from my days as a 'greenie,' and because a could be classified as a 'computer guy,' I have a little bit of a 'thing' about e-waste anyway.
There are a couple of organizations I am aware of that recycle old electronic gadgets, and even pay for some of them. The ones I am thinking of both had fundraiser programs last time I checked. I haven't had a use for fundraiser programs myself, but I thought it might be worth looking into.

I fixed the Alt-Market donate page button. It now takes you to paypal, as it should. Turns out, Joomla thought Paypal's script was malware and was stripping it out...
If I had more advance notice, I would have developed some graphics, banners and maybe even a tracking page for this money drive (so people can see how much we've raised.) I still plan on doing so because I think it's important. But it will take a couple of days, especially with everything else I have going on this weekend. Just an FYI... it's coming.
Thanks Nayrb, for your ever vigilant bug-tracking! I like your idea too. I could definitely get rid of some old computer parts...

The donate area doesn't give the option of Neither Corp./Alt. Mkt. it just shows N Corp.; since you said it will most likely go to Alt. I went ahead and donated. I hope donations pick up, I was tired of seeing it linger @ $ 2650.

Would love to give something but I'm a little reluctant to proceed til I feel safe about doing it. I don't trust Pay-Pal.

So, who is keeping track of the "Alternative-Market" and are we just helping pay for your advertizing or actually going to be a part of something that will help sustain us through the coming chaos? Do we get to access a site where we can see who is doing what so we can join other activists, or develop a system of trading items for survival?
Seems like you started this money drive a while ago and it still isn't fully funded. Do we have to wait until it is?
Have you advertized on facebook? gbtv.com? Freedomworks.com? Perhaps you should use some of the funds you already have to get more exposure and thus more support. I'll be trying to support you with something when I get my next paycheck, but still want more info.

Good stuff Brandon , I wish more people would open their eyes .
