Where Is The Line For Revolution?

The subject of revolution is a touchy one.  It’s not a word that should be thrown around lightly, and when it is uttered at all, it elicits a chaotic jumble of opinions and debates from know-it-alls the world over.  The “R” word has been persona non grata for quite some time in America, and until recently, was met with jeers and knee-jerk belligerence.  However, let’s face it; today, the idea is not so far fetched.  We have a global banking system that is feeding like a tapeworm in the stagnant guts of our economy.  We suffer an election system so fraudulent BOTH sides of the political spectrum now represent a hyper-rich minority while the rest of us are simply expected to play along and enjoy the illusion of choice.  We have a judicial body that has gone out of its way to whittle down our civil liberties and to marginalize our Constitution as some kind of “outdated relic”.  We have an executive branch that issues special orders like monarchical edicts every month, each new order even more invasive and oppressive than the last.  And, we have an establishment system that now believes it has the right to surveil the citizenry en masse and on the slightest whim without any consideration for 4th Amendment protections.

There are plenty of pessimists out there who would assert that Americans are totally oblivious to these developments.  I have not found that to be true at all.  Millions of people are awake to such issues, and millions more are, at the very least, angry at the state of things, though they may not fully understand the source of their distress.

Only a fool would deny that a fight is in the air…

Though the atmosphere of conflict is present, we are indeed experiencing a pause, a breath, a quiet moment before the breach, and this is a confusing time for many.

We human beings have a very odd tendency to view our own species as inherently and irrevocably violent, or at the very least terribly flawed.  However, for all the negative press mankind gets for being “warlike”, if we look back at history it is much more customary to find people desperately trying to avoid conflict, not provoke it, especially if there is an element of tangible risk.  Wars are usually not fought by the general citizenry, or the men who promote the pursuit of hostilities.  They pay other people to fight for them.  If they were ever expected to actually participate in the same battles they lust after, they would probably change their minds about the whole idea rather quickly.

Most often the only instances in which common people take up arms and charge towards combat based on principle have been revolutions.  Some revolutions are based on lies, and some are based on inspiration, but all of them require men to conquer their own apathy and fear of confrontation.  This is no easy task, and it sometimes takes years or decades of social adaptation and organization.

The elements of a revolution are synchronous.  They are like the ingredients of a boiling tropical storm.  Each vital aspect of the event must be in place, or there can be no energy or direction.  That said, if an environment is left sweltering and volatile, and this electric stew is maintained long enough, eventually, a tempest will rise.

The real question is; where is the tipping point?  What causes a population to tolerate or ignore certain crimes by governments, but not others?  Where is the line in the sand that if crossed, turns an apprehensively meek citizen into an “enemy of the state” ready to lay down his life against the very system he was born into?  The answer is an intuitive and psychological one, rather than mathematical.

Colonial Americans suffered through numerous and mounting indignities over the course of many years before taking up arms.  They attempted nearly every method imaginable to counter or reason with British oppression without turning to violent means.  They exhausted every avenue, legal, political, and social.  They held rousing protests.  They decentralized economically and countered British trade controls.  They constructed brilliant legal arguments appealing to the monarchy to embrace logic.  They attempted diplomatic redress after redress.  It was abundantly clear that they did not want a war.  When average Americans consider the revolution that gave birth to our free republic, they tend to forget the long struggle that was necessary to rally support for a declaration of liberties.  No society, no matter how right in their position, and no matter how heinous the tyranny, jumps directly behind the muzzle of a gun to solve the problem.  Revolution takes time…

As difficult as it is to rationally gauge the exact moment or circumstance that triggers revolt, the intensity or build up to conflict can certainly be felt.  That pressure is tactile in America today, and is becoming difficult to ignore.  The reasons are obvious.  In the past 10 years alone elements of our government have cemented into place the “legal” framework to:

1) Detain U.S. citizens indefinitely without trial under the guise of enemy combatant status.

2) Assassinate U.S. citizens without trial and without due process under the law, including the very clear requirements of the treason clause.

3) Confiscate resources, including your private property, in the name of national security and preparedness.

4) Take control of or eliminate all communications networks including phone, radio, television, cell, internet, etc. in the name of national security.

5) Unleash a swarm of unmanned Predator Drones over our homes and towns to make mass surveillance of the public easier.  All without probable cause or the protections of the 4th Amendment.

6) Capture, collate, and monitor the communications of millions of citizens without probable cause or a warrant under the FISA domestic spy bill.

7) Declare martial law without congressional oversight and embed active serving military amongst the populace in a law enforcement capacity.  This includes the institution of Northcom, which is a standing military presence in the U.S. whose primary mission is to quell domestic dissent.

Most of the laws and executive orders that qualify this behavior from our government have been tested, at least in a limited capacity.   These abuses of power have already galvanized a groundswell of activists across the country, and I believe that if implemented in a broader manner, will instigate revolution.  Where is the line?  I believe the line will be drawn with these trespasses:

1)
Any action that involves the standardization of indefinite detainment or rendition against American citizens will result in rebellion.  The second due process is thrown out the window and the right to a trial by jury is revoked, there is not much left for a population to do but fight back.  This includes pre-emptive assassination as well.  The more often enemy combatant status is applied to get around Constitutional protections, the more exponential public anger and fury will be.  Black bagging people will lead to war.

2) Economic mismanagement or deliberate derailment by banks has been accomplished with the aid and collusion of government.  This has been made abundantly clear by numerous instances of exposed fraud, including the Libor Scandal, in which the private Federal Reserve and agencies within our own system have openly admitted to hiding the precarious nature of our financial situation.  Any further implosion of the overall economy will be blamed on this fraud by a considerable portion of the public.  When people’s wallets and bellies become empty, it’s amazing how quickly they will get off their couches to solve a crisis.  If they can’t find justice within the system, history has shown that they will look for justice outside of it.

3) The institution of checkpoints, invasive technology like naked body scanners, and exaggerated law enforcement presence on a wide scale, will invariably lead to revolt.  Dealing with TSA thugs in an airport is one thing; people fly voluntarily, and when they do it often involves a particular level of fear and anxiety, which can be used as rationalization for extreme security measures.  Dealing with blue-shirts on the streets near your home, at the bus stop, or on the highway, on the other hand, is not going to go over too well.  These tactics have already been experimented with on a small scale.  I don’t care how sheepish the American people appear to be in this era; start invading their personal space on a regular basis and many will eventually respond with fists instead of shrugged shoulders.

4)
Predator drone fleets hovering over every square mile of the U.S. is not only completely unacceptable, it is going to escalate dissent into the realm of revolution.  Any society that harbors even the slightest morsel of individualism is going to think “expedient regime change” when flying surveillance cameras are buzzing over their shoulders 24 hours a day.  Set aside the fact that many of these drones will be launched weapons capable.  No government has the right to categorize the whole of a citizenry as potential criminals.  “When innocent until proven guilty” becomes “guilty until proven innocent”, revolutions become inevitable.

5) Martial Law is an impractical solution to any national crisis.  The Founding Fathers understood this well, which is why they specifically opposed the use of standing armies, especially in peace time.  Under the Constitution, the private citizenry was supposed to be the disaster reaction force, not government paid centurions.  There were multiple reasons behind this position.  First, military troops are not trained for and do not have the capacity to police a domestic population (especially their own) in a practical manner.  They are trained to do one thing; dominate an enemy.  Second, the citizens within a particular state or county would have a much better understanding of that region’s needs and complexities.  A military composed of mostly unfamiliar outsiders would not know or care about how a local system operates, and would instead try to impose its own one-size-fits-all methodology.  Finally, as apathetic as many people seem, they still do not like to feel bullied or subjugated.  Being surrounded by armed troops at every turn with the executive granted legal authority to detain or kill without verifiable cause would make any man a little perturbed.  I do not believe many in the U.S. will quietly accept a martial law scenario, regardless of the excuse given by government (terrorism, economic disaster, foreign war, etc.).  A move towards military administration of domestic affairs will lead to revolution.

The internal strife of a nation is not predicated on the transitory moods of its people but the attitude of its government.  Revolutions are not waged by happy men in an honorable land.  True revolutions are a product of generations of discontent stemming from dishonest and vicious bureaucracy.  An establishment government facing a wave of discord from the masses has, in most cases, done something to deserve it.  I, like many, do not relish the idea of a new American revolt, but if I am to be honest in the face of the facts, I have to acknowledge that the potential for one within my lifetime is significant.  I also can’t say that it is not necessary.  Unless tomorrow brings a miraculous shift in current totalitarian trends, revolution may be all we have left…

I believe the people will soon rise up against this govt, once Hillary Clinton signs the U.N Small Arms Treaty and congress does nothing and it becomes law that will make people see that the Constitution is being done away with with and then what other of our constitutional protections will be stripped next will start things off. Once freedom is no longer tolerated by govt the people will strike back.

... of revolution causes one to stop and reflect on the possiilities of both the cause(s) and outcome to say nothing of the process and it's consequences. It is incumbent on all of us to search deeply within to discover for ourselves if all peaceful means of resolution have been exausted before taking a step towards revolution. What must be kept in the forefront of everyone's mind is this: once that step is taken, there's no going back... no take-backs, no do-overs - it will be on till it's over.

Will the general population, that has the ability to take up arms.... have enough courage with our .22's and shotguns..., to face off the arsenal of tanks, missles, auto weapons, etc.? I think if we see our loved ones affected by these weapons of theirs, our strength will be elevated to a level most people do not know they have!

They started the Revolution
written by PatrickHenry2012 , July 19, 2012

I disagree that we would start a revolution....the fact is that THEY have already started a revolution. We are looking at this the wrong way. To say we would start a revolution against a domestic enemy of the Constitution is wrong. We have the high road in this situation, we would be defending the constitution and republic.

Their passage of legislation, court rulings and executive orders have done everything to subvert the Rule of Law, steal our wealth, rob us of our God given natural rights of Life, Liberty(s) and pursuit of happiness. They have subverted the constitutional rule of law, by making 4500 Federal Statues that make each and every one of us a criminal. They violate the Bill of Rights daily. The 4th amendment at Airports or law abiding citizens exercising their 2nd amendment rights, or the active abuse by LEO for lawfully refusing to identify themselves when no suspicion of a crime is evident or telling us what we can and can not drink (raw milk, natural food). The list is so long that the Founders would have already arrested, tried and hung perpetrators of this magnitude of tyranny on the people.

For God's sake people they are the revolutionaries not WE THE PEOPLE! Stop calling our selves revolutionaries we are defenders of the republic, don't let the actual revolutionaries label you. We would only be defending what the Founders and Framers fought and died for!

That was exactly the point I made in the article. Government's create revolution. Not the populace.

Also, for those who claim Americans will not "have the courage" to defend themselves, I think many will not have a choice. You push anyone into a corner, no matter how seemingly docile, and most will find the ability to fight back. History has proven that tyranny inspires revolt. Period. The strength of the opposition is irrelevant.

What a revolting development this is!
I, too, feel like revolting, and am looking for creative, positive ways to do so.
I have given a lot of thought as to how I would react to a potential life-threatening illness?
I feel (at this point, anyway), that I would use "natural means" to try to sustain life - no chemotherapy, no very invasive surgery, etc.
The reason:
I would not want to burden the health insurer or my family with huge medical bills, just to sustain a person who is relatively content with his individual situation, but cannot tolerate what is happening to others, en masse.
In other words, if I had a chance to "go underground," I would do so, so that whatever assets I have could be passed on, as opposed to sustaining a body for a few ore, or even several more, years.
That would be dying well and living fully.

How many sides would a revolution have?
written by TheInfoMan , July 19, 2012

From the above, I agree that there will be no going back. But who could control the eventual outcome? The far left has been organizing for such an event for a long time. Lest we forget Saul Alinsky's model: "Rules for the Revolution."

If this thing were to start, I don't think it could be controlled and I also think freedom lovers would be in the minority.

This is my first post here and I very much welcome your thoughts on this.

It is not a revolution
written by ecodivr , July 19, 2012

Lysander Spooner in his essay 'A Defence for Fugitive Slanve.'

This right of the people, therefore, to resist usurpation, on the part of the government, is a strictly constitutional right. And the exercise of the right is neither rebellion against the constitution, nor revolution — it is a maintenance of the constitution itself, by keeping the government within the constitution. It is also a defence of the natural rights of the people, against robbers and trespassers, who attempt to set up their own personal authority and power....

Revolution???
written by Tony Hunt , July 19, 2012

I think that a revolution in the US is really a very remote possibility. Why,You might ask. First, any army travels on it's belly that is you have to have the strength to fight any rebellion would bring government made food shortages to that area. Close the interstate(national defense) highway system and you can stop ALL resupply to any area of this country. Second, command and control over a rebellion would be very difficult to manage when the government has the ability to stop 99% of communications. Third, The segment of the population that was educated in the American tradition is getting older quickly. Fourth, this country is so divided on almost any issue that consensus just can't be reached, most elections are 51/49% splits. When a man like Ron Paul is laughed at and denigrated by the MSM what hope is there? I personally am 57 and I trully believed that if Revolution was going to happen it would have been in the 90's, Ruby Ridge, Waco, etc should have done the trick but the outrage at those actions were quelled by the Oklahoma City bombing, which I think was carried out by elements of the US government. In closing I think the time is way past due to imbrace the "R" word. The gutless Sheeple will never rock the boat as long as they have Food,Shelter and the NFL an American Idol to fill the senses with such Joy. My opinion.

A Revolution?
written by Cecil Williams , July 19, 2012

Such talk is very much like 'Monday morning quarterbacking.' If and when a revolution occurs, the actual outcome finds the populace in worse shape afterwards than it was before. Two recent examples are Libya and the on going Syria scrimmage war.

The US revolution was different in the late 16th Century. There were guiding principles spelled out by Renaissance thinkers that made the Founders what they were. Today we are all pragmatist and the outcome of any revolution for any initial just or unjust cause is a crap-shoot for a lack of Principles.

Ayn Rand uniquely has spelled out a set of such principles for which if implemented after a successful revolution, the brightest and dumbest would fare better than today. But nice people don't talk about Ayn Rand - or do they?

I totally get your point, Brandon. What kills me is that We the People allowed them to take our power away. We are supposed to be the bosses and the government the employees. We stood down when we should have stood up and pushed back. Now we find our country is hardly recognizable. Most Americans - those of whom you write - take tremendous pride in our independence and our ability to thrive when NOT fettered by what we regard as excessive law. Your articles energize me because I realize that many, many of us have the same passion to save our country from the enemy within. If we do, praise the Lord but if we don't, I intend to go out kicking and screaming and exercising my 2nd Amendment rights!

Revolution is impossible. This is because people think it impossible. This is because they have had this idea DRILLED into them by every possible avenue: "education," entertainment, news media, politicians, and any place where one can possibly be an unwitting recipient of propaganda from both left and right, who, after all, espouse essentially the same slightly-leftist ideology of liberal democracy and "progress" above all else. You cannot have revolution without violence, and we have all been taught, and believe, that the only "meaningful change" can occur through "non-violent" practices like voting.

Oh, and here's two candidates for you. Suckers.

Worldwide Revolution Needs Planning and Time
written by The Philosopher , July 19, 2012

Just read a book published on July 4 this year on Kindle Books called "Of the People for the People - A 21st Century Revolution" by Jefferson Adams.

This book is half fiction and half non-fiction and provides a pretty accurate analysis of where we are now, how we got here and where we are heading. It has a lot of controversial philisophical and political discussion that probably will ruffle a few feathers. Still it goes on and eventually ends with the overthrow of all world governments via a peaceful worldwide revolution carefully planned out over a period of about 25 years.

Many articles point out all of the things that are wrong with the governments, society and geopolitics, but most if not all provide an explanation about what is at the root of the trouble and noone seems to think about what needs to be done to solve the problems.

This book was not only educational, but actually gives the reader a lot to think about. Maybe people will start to think about what really caused the problems and what needs to be done to solve the problems.

The book is definately worth a read for anyone who really wants world peace and a planet controled by the people. A dream now, but who knows what people can do if they really set their minds to it.

Many articles point out all of the things that are wrong with the governments, society and geopolitics, but most if not all provide no explanation about what is at the root of the trouble and noone seems to think about what needs to be done to solve the problems.

The above is a correction.

People can always see what is wrong and see what looks like the cause, but the real cause is much deeper and the book "Of the People for the People - A 21st Century Revolution" by Jefferson Adams really looks under the surface. Without knowing what is causing the problems, how can people solve them. All of the revolts and revolutions today will not lead to peace and will likely just make things worse, because they do not address the real problems. Like in the US today people think things will go back to where they were when the economy was strong, if there is a new president. People really need to get back to basics and that means they have to open their minds and think and analyze.

Adamant, in-your-face nonviolent resistance to authority is and always has been the only lastingly effective means to overthrowing oppressive rulers. (Note: all rulers are oppressive because no human being has a legitimate right to rule even one other person.) The revolution will start when and if you begin resisting taxes. If you're not resisting taxes you are contributing to your oppressors and providing them with the ammo to shoot you. Take away their stolen revenues and rulers are about as menacing as toy poodles. They can't hire the thugs who do their dirty work. Voting, serving on juries, petitioning (viz., begging) legislators or courts, saluting flags, standing for anthems, showing respect to any government authority, all these strengthen the hand that beats you.

When I worked for the police department as a stenographer I'd get upset with how frequently they used the term "surveil." It IS a word, even if your spellcheck doesn't recognize it.

@4kinit

Passive resistance is NOT resistance. Passivity is a FUNDAMENTAL VALUE of the prevailing system--it allows the leaders to remain in charge. Also, if goods stop showing up and trains stop running, do you really imagine ANYONE being passive? We went to WAR because people adopted a different ideology when the trains stopped running (WWII, Italian Fascism got the trains running again, but was not acceptable to the prevailing rulers of the world--they couldn't dip their hand in it).

@Ned Netterville

Right on, but I think you've limited yourself by placing "taxes" at the forefront. A man's freedom is "taxed" in many ways other than those enforced by the IRS. Money is certainly the big issue, but not the only one.

Power to the People
written by The Philosopher , July 19, 2012

I wonder why so many people do not seem to know what is going on, or just do not seem to care. So many people seem to be waiting for someone else to make things better for them. Or they have been brainwashed into believing some external deity will take care of things for them.

It seems like people do not want to think. It is easier to just ignore all of the problems...kick the can down the road.

People have to start thinking and look for the truth. People can change everything for the better, but first they have to change the way they think. As long as people believe they are weak, or not wise enough, they will stay right in the place the government and many of the religious groups want them to be. Like a bunch of caged mice under the control of a few Fat Cats.

Before there can be a revolution that actually can result in better conditions, people have to have a human revolution and change their own philosophical or religious thought pattern. People really can do anything, if they set their mind to it. But they have to believe in themselves and believe in the sanctity of all human life. All men are essentially the same and want to be truly happy in this lifetime.

After people change their way of thinking by learning more and opening up their minds to different ideas that may actually be truer than what they have been taught all their lives, then people can collectively plan to revolt and have a plan for what the government will be after the revolution. Then there can be a worthwhile and successful worldwide revolution.

Sooner or later the Arab Spring will likely become the American Summer. Or our 'leaders' will realize that there is a serious need to back off. Eventually people will be pushed too far, the straw that broke the camels back. We fought a civil war and a revolutionary war over the shape of our country, had a forebearer in the later, not the former. The revolutionary war was the only ar in modern history where casualities ere excess of 1% of the population. The two World Wars didn't come close but the Civil War did, or country hasn't come cheap.

This is the line...
written by kletzenklueffer , July 20, 2012

I've come here from WRSA. I've been giving this some thought and the line for revolution as I see it is this; when we as citizens can no longer seek redress in our government. Our executive branch is tyrannical, our representative branch no longer represents us, and our judicial branch legislates instead of judges law against the Constitution. When we can no longer trust our government to uphold the Constitution, then it is time to pull them out of power and reform the governmental structure.

WELL NOW
written by Kit Carson , July 20, 2012

Revolution was a word thrown around lightly in clouds of harsh Mexican smoke. In the nineteen sixties free speech was guaranteed with added emphasis... pills, acid, MDA or what have you. What has changed, the crowd suckled on the acrid cloud is now twice thirty and in charge. Your children are raised on a more potent THC level, and pills are more available but, MDA is now called Ecstasy. Oh, the PC crowd has limited your free speech, assembly, and civil rights to the point, revolution is hush hush. Think Terry Thomas in it's a Mad Mad Mad World, whoosh whoosh.

There are too many "takers"...
written by TPaine , July 20, 2012

We're screwed because there are too many out there who will vote for themselves - "A democracy is always
temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent
form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally
collapse over loose fiscal policy, (which is) always followed by a dictatorship."

That was said in the 19th century by a Scottish history professor, but he had it spot-on then, and this is what is happening now. Those who would vote for Obama and his cronies again will do so to maintain their government largess, either by government payroll or government benefits (welfare especially). They do not care if this country fails, because it will still take care of them. And if you bring up a place like Russia, they will only laugh and say it will not happen here.

The Declaration of Independence said that if we do not like our government, we have the right to abolish it and replace it with one we do like.

It's time!

Our revolution will come but I think it will be brought to us by our domestic enemies presently serving in our employ.. it will take one act for it to begin and it will serve their purposes only.. it might be another Trayon Martin or other racial upsurge of some created imagined attack, it could be from some "medical outbreak" and an executive order or any of a dozen other activities taken against us by our servants that will generate some false groundswell of supposed anger and cry for "justice" and the lock down will happen, martial law will be declared and the "enforcers will hit the bricks in an all out move to take control but the origination will be their and we wont have much time to react.. imagine.. a saturday night, media blackout nationwide, false reports of system failures and then they show up at your door demanding surrender of arms, money, food or other means of resistance.. arrests begin, shootings occur and train loads of people disappear.. watch for it.They will come.

During the revolution, the south declared war on the United States. Lincoln fought them off and freed the slaves.
Then, in 1971 the United States declared war on it's own people by removing all the money from the economy and replacing it with worthless paper, enslaving americans once again. It has been and will continue to be a long, long bloody battle to gain freedom again. You could start by accumulating Gold and Silver, and use it for trade and barter, like we did before 1971. The enemy has no weapon against such a system. If we stop using their paper they will be rendered powerless.

The banksters and politicians have found a way to infiltrate the machine and bend it to meet their own will. Maintaining the Constitution is the only answer. There has been a decades long war on drugs, which are illegal... but how is it that weapons would reach any outlaw? They are made somewhere, shipped somewhere, and used somewhere. In the words of the NRA..."When guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns." Consider the situation in Chicago and Detroit. The average citizens are denied the right to defend themselves while the gang-bangers blast away with weapons they should not legally posses! Washington and Franklin were 'outlaws'!!! The DHS would consider our founding fathers as terrorists! If they come for our guns then we must do as the rest of the 'outlaws' have done..defend our rights and operate outside, the unconstitutional, laws passed on us by thieves, trespassers, and tyrants. Tell me, how are they going to confiscate firearms from over 100 million gun owners? Please, lay this out for me, because I would love to hear a scenario that somehow doesn't end in revolution...

The Colorado shooting will be forgotten in two weeks, just like the Giffords shooting was. Gun control groups aren't going to get any more play out of it than any other shooting. Why? Because there are too many Americans now who understand that gun control only serves to disarm law abiding citizens and make criminals untouchable. The gun control lobby is impotent compared to the early 90's, which is exactly the way it should be.

One other thing, in the last Littleton, CO school shooting in 2010, the two school children that were shoot incurred vast medical expenses--the people now in the hospital are now will incur vast expenses as well, hopefully there will be funds set up so we all can contribute.

written by Marquis De La Fayette , July 21, 2012

Brandon,
Gun confiscation will occur in stages and will be a multi prong attack on the People. A gun confiscation friendly environment will be staged over time.
Step one, you set up the legal justification for gun confiscation. You bypass the U.S. Constitution by signing an international treaty requiring firearm "inventory" of each signee country. This will occur at the end of this month at the UN in New York City. July 27th to be exact. The UN Small Arms Treaty legally supersedes the US Constitution and remains in force UNTIL the U.S. Senate votes on it. The Senate may never vote on it if it isn't brought to the floor. There isn't much time left in this session before summer recess. The required inventory implies firearms registration. People will comply with the registration requirement, especially if mass shootings continue to occur. After all public opinion is being shaped as we speak, with the very suspiciously well timed Colorado massacre, one week before the signing of The U.N. Small Arms Treaty. By the way, there are already stories floating around the net claiming that the Colorado shooting shows obvious signs of being staged. See http://www.naturalnews.com/036..._flag.html
Most Americans are law abiding and will comply with registration. We now pretty much know who has what and where. Databases are then used to cross reference, the number of guns being registered and the number of NICS checks performed for each individual. (Don't tell me you still believe, that the NICS data is erased after 30 days, do you?) If there is a mismatch, an initially friendly visit, or not, by your local "recovery and compliance team" will "work out" the discrepancy. Public opinion has also been shaped to make registration more palatable, there will be enough public outcry over kids and moms and daddies being massacred, that in the people's mind registration is a small price to pay if we can avoid another massacre, right?
Registration has been achieved and no revolution occurred. So far so good. I have to get going, but I will soon continue to theorize how we could go from registration to confiscation peacefully and with minimal resistance.

They will do what they always do
written by Captain America , July 21, 2012

The way this defacto gov't will operate to continue their tyrannical leadership role is to compartmentalize. They will try to cut off information flow just like they do now and spread propaganda to make you question your actions. Ie. A lot of what you'll ask yourself will be,"Am I doing the right thing here? Is the rest of the country also of the same opinion?" Trust me, you will be doing the right thing when it comes to ending this defacto gov't. These rulers, despots, dictators are all guilty of dereliction of duty. They are not our gov't, they are their own gov't and they abandoned the rule of law and my Constitution for the uS of A a long time ago to promote and cultivate a corporation of which they are the elected board members. We the people have unwittingly elected board members of a corporation that has over time pulled a fast one on the nation of sheep lulled to sleep by modern amenities and their continuous manipulations of the food, water and air we ingest daily. And bombard us our whole lives with subliminal suggestions over the airwaves and begin that indoctrination in the public school system. Ever notice that everything they taught in school is just worthless information? Like who needs twelve years of english classes, certainly many could use better instruction on proper grammar and spelling but we all know how to speak and communicate with each other. And no matter how many years you take you will still speak how you do no matter what. So don't let them distract you, remain focused. REmember always that THEY are the enemy of my and your country. They are the ones breaking the laws of this land and THEY are the ones who are wrong. They have manipulated the currency, the laws, and have imprisoned our brothers and sisters for actions that should never even be questioned. What one person does in their own private affairs are theirs to do and no ones business but theirs so long as they don't harm anyone else or their property. If your neighbor wants to grow weed and smoke it all day and as such it does not infringe upon yours or anyone elses rights or harm them or their property then your neighbor has every right to do so in peace. It is so wrong to regulate and punish a mans personal behaviors that cause no one harm if only his own.
As far as many commenters here who fear the possibility of fighting a revolution against the US military, I think our brothers and sisters in the armed forces will refuse to take up arms against their countrymen. They know all too well what is happening here on the home front. I have read numerous comments here and there about how a huge number of them do not like their current commander in chief and many more disagree with much of their current work. I have faith that enough of our brothers in arms will, when the moment is upon them, will refuse orders to fire upon civilian combatants who are going to make it perfectly clear starting now to the entire US military that the objective target we revolutionaries are fighting is NOT them, that the target is the Congressional leadership, their entourage and network of banking relations, lobbying parnerships, super PACs contributors, the executive branches and judiciary and any federal policing agencies who remain loyal to those previously named. The fight if there is one, will come from the local level the strongest, this cancer in this country runs throughout all levels of the political spectrum local, county, parrish, state and federal. Every single city and gov't entity is in fact incorporated and as such ran like a for profit business at any cost because the ones running the company are not liable for any losses or any screwups. REmember, this gov't is NOT our gov't, it is THEM who have broken the laws of this nation, it is THEM who must be punished, it is THEM who have worked actually put forth great effort to steal as much of your wealth as they can and to destroy the one thing that made this country the greatest country ever to exist on this planet throughout all of history written and known and unknown. Our Constitution for the united States of America was written by men of genious level intelligence. It has taken the evildoers more than two hundred years to foment their dastardly deeds and drive the good people of this nation to the point of boiling over and making action neccessary. Good luck and may the power to prevail in the face of the monster be ours.

There is a big difference between signing a treaty or creating a law, and actually going out to collect the guns. Your entire theory is based on the assumption that Americans, 100 Million of them, will quietly hand over their weapons just because the establishment writes up a "law". I don't think you understand the situation very well. They certainly will fool some people into compliance, but never all, and by that I mean millions of citizens will not participate, regardless of what the "Law" says.

So again, you have a revolution. There is no avoiding such an event for the elites. We know it, and they know it. Why do you think DHS is stockpiling hundreds of millions of rounds of ammunition? For practice?

Now in 2012, they are in the process of putting on trial former government officials and putting them in jail. Someone smarter than I could look it up to see how they did it. There may be 100M people with guns but how many of them really know or for that matter really care what's going on in our nation. If just being affected by a new law really does get people "up in arms", where's all the outrage over the NDAA or the executive order of confiscation signed by Obama earlier this year. Obviously people still need to be enlightened before they can figure out something might not be in their best interests. There's a whole lot of apathy out there today. The Founding Fathers went through the exact same trials for decades before they finally fired a shot in self defense. You need to reread the article because I make it quite clear that it is NOT just the issuance of a tyrannical law that triggers revolution; it is the WIDER APPLICATION of that law that causes people to rebel. The law is nothing. The action is everything. It is vital that you look back at history and learn in order to predict the future, not base your theories on your own assumptions and nihilism.

In every revolution there are always gaggles of people that claim "it can't be done". Those are the men who end up in the sewer drains of history books.

Action/Inaction
written by the minnesota connection , July 22, 2012

Brandon,

I did not state that it could not be done.I just believe that there is a whole lot of apathy out there that may hinder/harm any type of uprising. I think that the military has a lot to do with any favorable outcome. Back in the day, the people were the militia. Today it is a government controlled entity made up of a lot of young people that have spent several years in an educational system that is known for "dumbing down" and steering these young people in the direction that TPTB want them to go. And there are also older folks out there that happen to be gun owners who really don't care whether they have weapons or not. There are those too that believe that as long as the government takes care of them all will be well in the world.

I am certainly not saying that it cannot happen or won't happen, I'm just saying that there are a lot of variables. I believe one of the most important pieces of the puzzle is the military. Just one example is what happened after Katrina. Episodes like that scare me just a little. I know there were some that refused to take up arms against the citizens down there, but there were a whole of them that did.

I know that I'm not as well versed as you (or a lot of others here) when it comes to this stuff, but sometimes I just feel the need to express my opinions. I agree with what you say about "action is everything", but as I stated earlier, I see and hear a lot of "yea that's happening, but there's nothing I can do about it" attitude.

Love the website, read it daily, and spread it around to as many people as I can. Keep up the great work.

Cause and Effect
written by The Philosopher , July 22, 2012

It is easy to see the problems in the world and trace them back to the most recent cause. for instance the unemployment rate rises...well, it must be the current president or current government or the last few regimes fault. Change the players and the problem will be solved, they think. They are wrong. People can point fingers and blame others, but rarely look at their own actions or consider that maybe they are causing the problems, maybe not overtly, but by not looking for the root causes that must be addressed first.

The root of all of the major problems on this planet is based in the way the majority of the people think about themselves and their relationship to each other and the entire universe. Most do not want to seek the truth. They want to go on and believe as their fathers do or did, and what the society around them tells them what they should believe. Most are taught not seek any other way or contemplate new ideas, new philosophical ways of thinking. Just accept and believe. It is easy and you will be accepted by those around you. This is wrong and because it is wrong the person's environment does not improve or worsens.

This is why things are not changing or at least not changing for the better. Most people want to be lead, they want to follow. They do not want to rock the boat, or as Brandon said above they are apathetic and do not think they can make a difference. They are wrong because everyone can make a difference.

This is a lie that the people in power want the masses to believe so they can control and manipulate them. And they do. Every person no matter how rich or how poor, how smart or how ignorant can make a difference and have a positive impact on the entire universe.

The primary and basic problem in the world today, and for as long back as there is recorded history, is religion. It holds people down and it keeps them from thinking or from changing the way they think. It holds them in place and keeps them from seeking the truth. It disempowers them.

People do in fact have a spiritual aspect and it is their conscious mind. If people believe they are weak and must follow and obey some higher force, being, or deity, they are actually choosing to be weak and not using their spiritual side in a beneficial way. This is a bad cause and results in people not being able to make the causes needed to be absolutely indestructibly happy in this life time.

Most people cling to their beliefs and refuse to open their mind and analyze the true cause of the suffering and unhappiness in the world. The people with the strongest beliefs and most rigid religions are suffering the most. It is obvious to anyone who is paying attention.

People can revolt and think the new regime will be better and things will improve and occasionally they actually do improve on a relative and interim basis, but eventually due to their mistaken beliefs, they end up in a worse situation than before.

Unless the majority of the people wake up and seek the truth and realize why mankind is heading down the wrong path the problems in the world will only increase until eventually man can no longer survive on this planet.

Mankind needs to realize that we are all basically the same and we all have the power to change our destiny for the better. The absolute worst thing a person can do is hurt another person either physically or by taking what is not theirs. People can study and learn and help teach each other to live in peace. These are facts I think most people believe.

We can have a peaceful revolution and change the world. We can believe in man and love each other. These are also facts.

If there is god or Allah or Buddha or some other all powerful force, it is within us all, and we are all part of it. It is not separate from or external. Unfortunately for man today most believe this force or power is external and man is weak and unable to do what needs to be done. So man continues down the same path leading to a place we do not want to be.

Before there can be a revolution, man has to realize why things are the way they are. Truly why they are that way, not just because someone says they are, but because the people realize the truth from inside their own mind and life. This takes effort and feels like it is much harder to do than to just have faith, but it is actually the simplest thing to do in the long run.

A world wide revolution will come and it can be either a peaceful and successful one, if it is carefully planned and executed, or it can be a bloody one leading to more pain and suffering. And it all starts right now with one person deciding to think and study and learn about philosophy, their life and the infinite power they possess within their own life.

Revolution
written by Awaken , July 22, 2012

Brandon, I felt your article was inspirational, but until there are dead bodies of innocent civilians in the streets, murdered by whatever forces (wherever they are from) who are present and on every street corner and the families and neighbors have witnessed their deaths and vowed revenge, I really doubt the people, in general, will try to put a stop to it.

As Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn said, “And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand?... The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin's thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt! If...if... We didn't love freedom enough. And even more – we had no awareness of the real situation.... We purely and simply deserved everything that happened afterward.”

The dictionary definition of revolution is: "A radical and pervasive change in society and the social structure, especially one made suddenly and often accompanied by violence."

To PatrickHenry2012, I would say your response is one of the best I have ever heard! WE who chose to fight are not the revolutionists, we are the DEFENDERS of our Republic who fight against those who have taken over the control of OUR country and are attempting to destroy it!

I copied and completely agree with your final paragraph: "For God's sake people THEY are the revolutionaries not WE THE PEOPLE! Stop calling our selves revolutionaries we are defenders of the republic, don't let the actual revolutionaries label you. We would only be defending what the Founders and Framers fought and died for!"

I agree that the people who would stand up against the changes made by the government over the past 100-plus years are definately in the right and when they march they will hopefully be doing so with a complete understanding of why and what they are defending with a well thought out plan to impliment upon their success.

It is not such a difficult thing to evolk change once enough people understand the problems, their root cause, and what needs to be done to change the current system(s) so the world can live in peace. Then hopefully the revolution will be be planned well with agreement of the majority and executed in a peaceful way.

I think the term revolutionary does not have a negative conotation like your comment implies, as long as the participants are acting peacefully and with the intent of their actions being for the good of the country. I do not think the govt and their special interest groups and military industrial complex are revolutionaries. They (many but not all) are theives of our liberty and our property, they are murderers of defensless women and children and can be labeled with many other titles they have earned over the years, but they are not revolutionaries.

It would be quite idealistic to believe that when confronted with a direct threat to one's life (or freedom), the defender would take time to formulate a plan to implement their success. It reminds me of the old joke which goes, "When you are up to your as s in alligators, it is difficult to remember your goal was to drain the swamp." I think you might have a tendency to take care of the alligators first.

You are correct in stating it is not, or should not be, a difficult thing to evoke change. However, here is a quote from George Lincoln Rockwell, “Revolution is a spectators sport. The majority will sit in the stands and watch the factions fight. At the end they will choose side with the team that is winning.” As despicable as GLR, the founder of the Nazi party in America may be, he is correct. If the Founding Fathers of our nation would have waited for the consent of the majority, we would have still been under the rule of the British Empire!

Philosopher, you speak of the "agreement of the majority"; that is a Democracy. When two wolves and a lamb vote for what to have for dinner, that is a Democratic (forgive me) decision. If you are a wolf, it works out fine; if a lamb, not so good.

Since God banished Adam and Eve from the Garden of Eden, when has the world lived in peace? One of the first acts after that time was the killing of Abel by Cain. Living in peace is a nice concept and I know that I and my neighbors and perhaps you, want to live in peace. We, most of us, want to live our lives without intervention, particularly from some "foreign" intervention like the federal government. If we are doing things which disturb our neighbors, it is a local, not a national issue.

However, I am not sure if it is in some people's genetic makeup but there always seems to be a few who want to control and subjugate others; if you have never met a bully, you must have lived a very sheltered life.

Being, or being called, a revolutionary or revolutionist is not necessarily a bad term but I will still stand with the definition of what a revolution or a revolutionist (one who changes society in an abrupt and usually violent way) is. Can you deny that this is what the present federal government is presently doing?

As far as the participants in the various federal agencies are concerned, as you said, "They (many but not all) are theives of our liberty and our property, they are murderers of defensless women and children and can be labeled with many other titles they have earned over the years." You also said that you did not view them as revolutionaries.

Consider this, Philosopher, did Hitler, Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot and others personally murder millions of their fellow citizens alone - did they, personally, pull the trigger on them or did they have help from their minions in their systems? Those "revolutionaries" were all aided by their minions!

There is coming a time when all minions will have to make a decision which side they support.

I agree with what you wrote above and I am an idealist and know most of what I hope could happen likely will not for many of the reasons you stated.

You have to admit that with the internet and people becoming more connected, and lots of people for that matter, there is a better chance that people can communicate, as we are on this blog, plan and maybe the wolves and lambs would not reach a complete consensus but in time, who knows.

Problem is it seems there is little time left and many do not see the cliff we are set to go over.

I still think without some sort of plan that is agreed upon or likely would be agreed upon by most people, the odds of a successful revolution is slim.

@philosopher

Actually, in the face of increasingly technologically advanced armies, having a set "plan" is not the best road for revolution. There is a term called "asymmetric warfare". It is a strategy that involves decentralized and adaptive tactics by a revolutionary force. It is often effective because in this strategy, there is NO "leader" (or there are thousands of leaders), there is NO plan. The plan develops on the spur of the moment and changes quickly according to the requirements of the situation.

The oppressing army is unable to kill off the resistance in an efficient manner because there is no singular plan to uncover, no leader to assassinate. In fact, today, most revolutions naturally form in an asymmetric fashion. An overarching plan with a well defined leadership only puts the revolution in tremendous peril.

I must admit I am not up to speed with the tactics involved in revolutions and I see your point. What you say makes sense.

Hopefully, with blogs like this one and others out there people will begin to realize something needs to be done.

People need to start talking about, not only what is wrong and getting worse at an accelerating rate, but also think about what options there are to turn things around.

The current system we have is not working. There are things we the people can do to change things, if enough of us can agree on what changes need to be made. That is what I consider a plan. The actual events that come from that would likely happen more like you described.

One thing I think most people would agree on is getting money out of politics and reducing the size of government in the process. The governments of the world seem like they have become so corrupt over the years and are only getting worse as they grow larger and more, for lack of better words, unaffordable.

Why can't people see the problems out there and think about the causes? And then offer potential solutions that the people of the world can debate on pages like this and come up with a way to change the system, be it an all out revolution or something less dramatic.

Here is an idea. Make a constitutional amendment to make ALL political contributions illegal. There would have to be some other procedures set so anyone who wanted to serve their country in the public sector could have a fair chance at participating in the government, but getting money out of politics seems like a wise move.

That would cut a lot of the corruption out of politics.

It also seems like with the way technology is moving that computers can replace a lot of the government personnel.

There are many more ideas that we all can come up with and debate and discuss and eventually figure out how to implement. It seems a shame that most people are not involved or will likely not get involved until after there is a total collapse or some other disaster.

good exchange of ideas here

I really liked this article along with the attached comments (also the related comments on ZeroHedge). I believe that a fight IS coming. At some point, (some) Americans WILL have to stand up in response to the government's recent activities against us. That's why I'm sure there will be an armed revolt--we have not answered the governments aggressive movements against us, and it WILL be answered. As the article states though, the question is about the catalyst. As The Fourth Turning states, what's important is not a particular event, it's the response TO an event that's important..and it's difficult/impossible to predict which particular government act will be the final straw. While we are preparing for this outcome, we MUST, I think, gather in small organized teams to train. The lone wolf thing is very poor plan. Get involved in a group and train together. Improve your diet, lift weights, do cardio, learn first aid and other low-tech skills. Learn small group tactics. Learn how to operate checkpoints, roadblocks, and perimeter security. There's much work to be done.

Revolution

Nakita Kurcheve made the statment that communisum would bury the U.S. from within. We did not understand what he ment then. Today it is plain to see, that the progressives are a new communist. They started the revolution some fifty years ago. We as Americans must stand and defend Constitution. I also believe only a few in our military will stand against us. The majority will hold true to their oath to protect and defend The Constitution. There are over 11 million armed Americans in this Nation not counting the military. If this government allows one blue helmet or beret on American soil it will definely be on. GOD be with us in this endevore. SEMPER FI!! till the day I die!!

I believe the biggest mistake we as a nation made was sitting idly by during the late 1950s into the 60's and beyond as the leftists slowly infiltrated, subverted and, finally, dominated our media, our educational institutions and ultimately our government (at all levels, local state and national). Don Martin of the Heritage foundation put it best when he wrote for Fox News (and I'm sort of paraphrasing his idea, here) that nothing will change until we in/on the center right (America is basically a center-right nation still...at least for the moment) adopt some of the same methods, tactics, strategic moves that the socialist inclined left has been using for years (ie a sort of "Fifth Column" in reverse. For example, how about reverse infiltrating the "lame-stream" media; perhaps, beginning with orgnizations and individuals grouping together and buying up small-town radio and TV stations to start with, and (pardon the pun) "progressing" from there? We also need to become a strong presence within the realm of Internet social media. How about researching who the businesses and individuals who back these leftist groups are, then organizing boycotts of their products/services/causes etc. Many of these entities, like ACORN for example like to operate just below the radar as far as their real purposes are concerned. We need to turn over the rocks and expose them to the light.

We need to start our own "community organizing" groups at the grass-roots level to identify and recruit young people, to demonstrate to those who feel left out of the 'system' that there is a better way than the socialism/communism/central control of our lives for them to achieve their hopes and dreams. But, we have to communicate that "way" to them in a manner that they can understand and believe in at the gut level. We have not even come close to achieving that. We have to show them what's in it for themselves and their families. This has always been the failure of the center-right as I see it. And until we can truly offer a better idea to an America that is changing both in demographics and in its view of itself, a vision that demonstrates to even those on the lowest rungs of society that ours is truly the better path to freedom and properity, we're never going to achieve the true liberation of we the people envisioned by our founders.

generally right but ignore…
written by Flint Liddon , March 08, 2014

you folks are generally right but you focus too much on the government, and in particular the Federal Government. and start to sound like the black helicopter crowd. if i hear one more reference to “sheeple” i don’t know what i’ll do. you leave out the civil liberties that are eroded through the work of lobbyists for banks and insurance companies which takes a more insidious approach. State after state enact laws to make it harder for regular folks to seek redress in a court of law by a jury of our peers. sometimes it is called tort reform, but it always ends up with more restrictions on your right to a trial by jury. which is, by the way our MOST valuable right. more so than guns. more so than the vote. 1 of 12 is a powerful voice. They elect career politicians to state appellate court seats who carry out a “pro-business” agenda. usually takes the form of a jury verdict for a plaintiff “reversed, no opinion.”
